Work Experience

For most students, work experience begins in Year 10. As part of that year’s Personal Learning Plan, all students undertake a week-long program of workplace learning. Some students organise further work placements – generally of one week to further explore the world of work or to discover or develop alternative career options.

Students are expected to organise their own experiences in workplaces they believe may be helpful in setting up future pathways to their chosen career.
In Year 11 and/or 12, students may undertake more extensive work experience as part of vocational studies or vocational certificate programs. Called ‘structured work placement’ this helps students gain competencies accredited by TAFE or other Industry Training Organisations.
