Curriculum

Marryatville High School is proud of its history for providing students with the skills and capabilities to become active global citizens. The school has a reputation for strong academic achievement with a high percentage of students entering tertiary education or the workforce.

Middle Years (7-8)

The subjects offered in Year 7 and 8 are grouped within the 8 learning areas of the Australian Curriculum.

Students undertaking Special Interest Music, Special Interest Tennis or Elective Music Programs will have slightly different subject patterns to enable time for their special interest curriculum.

Intermediate Years (9-10)

The subjects offered in Year 9 and 10 are grouped within the 8 learning areas of the Australian Curriculum.

Students undertaking Special Interest Music, Special Interest Tennis or Elective Music Programs will have slightly different subject patterns to enable time for their special interest curriculum.

Senior Years (11-12)

The South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) is a certificate awarded to students who successfully complete compulsory requirements in their senior secondary education.

The SACE provides flexible options for students to complete their schooling through using the SACE, vocational education and training (VET), community learning, university, and TAFE studies.

International Program

Marryatville High School has a commitment to promote excellence in its International Student program. International students from all over the world are welcome and valued as part of our school community.

Special Interest Music

Marryatville’s Special Interest Music Centre was established in 1976 and is one of four specialist centres in Adelaide.

Marryatville’s music program provides models of excellence in music education in South Australia. The award winning program is recognized both nationally and internationally.

The multifaceted music curriculum of Marryatville High School includes the development of choral, concert band, jazz, contemporary, orchestral, solo, and small ensemble skills both within the classroom program as well as part of the extra curricular offerings.

Special Interest Tennis

Marryatville High School has been a special interest tennis school since 1995. The program (established by an agreement between the Department for Education and Tennis SA) allows students to combine school studies and high level tennis coaching with minimal disruption to their school work.

The students receive a broad academic education, specialist tennis coaching by accredited coaches during school hours, on the school’s six hard courts and two synthetic courts. Their theoretical study includes anatomy and physiology, fitness, diet and nutrition, relationships, sports injuries, drugs in sport and the psychology of winning.
